Orientation Day

Shane will begin a new turn in life today. College. He goes to orientation today. He is a little nervous but excited. I am so proud of him.

His kidney has continued to do great. In fact his overall health has been wonderful. I give all praise to God because with him all things are possible.

Coming up on 1 year anniversary

You would never imagine unless you have been though it, the immearsurable joy we have all experienced this past year. Oct 23, 2009 will be one year since Shane's kidney transplant. He has been doing so well the doctor and nurses all said he was the "Good Child" during his last visit.

So many changes have occured in Shane's personal life all because of one little kidney.  It is so encouraging to see him with so much energy, confidence and high self esteem. Shane will begin college in January for a computer science degree and I am so proud. YOU GO BOY!!! Love Mom!

Remembering the Nephrectomy

9/09/09 was one year since Shane had is double nephrectomy. Wow one whole year. Next month he is coming up on one year anniversary of his kidney transplant. His health is great. He did get the "swine flu" a few weeks ago but no major complications.

Kidney biopsy was remarkable

The doctor said there was no inflammation, very minimal scarring which is normal for a transplant and no signs of rejection.

Biopsy

The doctors visit last Thursday went really well. Shane is scheduled for his last kidney biopsy this Friday. Prayers please!!!!

Visit to doc tomorrow

Shane has been doing so well. It's been 6 months tomorrow and it will will be a doctor visit day. Yeah its a day a whole day. All that driving and sitting for a measly15  minutes of the doctor's time. If you've been there you know what I mean. I pray for a good report. Shane has had no complaints so I believe all is well. The very best part if you ask Shane is that I will take him to a sandwich shop. He loves sandwiches and pile them high he's a growing boy. It was funny the last time we went. He ordered his usual big "Original" from Schlotzsky's Deli. About half way thru he looked a little sick and sad at the same time. I knew he had been on a smaller dose of predinsone for a while and his appetite had decreased. Well this time his eyes were bigger than his stomach. Poor thing had to wrap up the remainder of the sandwich and bring it home. Of course a couple hours later and he finished it off. What an eating machine and never gains an ounce. Oh to be 18 again. Scratch that...let's don't have any do-overs. We have a mountains trip coming up. This will be the first with his girlfriend coming along. Shane received a free pass to several attractions in the area courtesy of Give Kids the World. If you are reading this and your child has an illness please visit their site for your childs dream vacation. My words can't tell you what this place meant to all of us. Visit gktw.org.

Magic Moments Trip

Shane had a blast when we went to Florida. Disney World, Univeral Studios and Sea World. Even the place we stayed, Give Kids the World, was awesome. I have never seen such in my lifetime.

His health is great. He went to the doctor after we returned from our trip. His kidney function is just fine. He has been having a little trouble with his heart but it turned out to be arhythmia and the cardiologist said he was not concerned with it at this time. Whew!!

Going to Disney World

Shane was granted a wish from Magic Moments. He chose to go to Disney World. That will be so exciting. He has never been.

He has continued to have great reports from the doctor. The doctor even told him that he (Shane) needed to teach the other patients how to care for themselves.

I am so grateful.

3 months

It has been 3 months now. Shane and Reed are both doing so well. Shane always gets great reports from his doctors. He had a kidney biopsy 1/15. We will most likely receive the results at the next clinic visit. I pray for the best results.

Life has been changing for all of us. Shane is becoming more and more independent. I know he is feeling better and not afraid of leaving home and getting sick anymore. I love that he has gained more confindence, more freedom. I miss my baby. We went to a mother/son banquet yesterday morning. It was great to spend time with him. A story was told but the the best part I will never forget.....

I will love you forever

I will like you for always

As long as I'm living my baby you will be

All is well

All has been going very well for both Shane and Reed. Shane has really improved since his transplant and is almost like a totally different person. He has become much more active and ambitious. I am so thankful for all the prayers from everyone.
